During the hottest part of the day, you can make sure to put shutters on all of the windows or at least cover them with shades. There are some shades that you can get which will help to ensure that only a bit of sunlight gets in. This means that the room is going to be a lot cooler overall.
Cool Rooms
If you are going to be building your own home, then it is important to strategically place a room in a certain part of the house. You may want to put the living room or the main room to a part of the house which is not facing the sun all of the time. This will help to make sure that the sun does not heat it up a lot. You will be surprised at the difference it can make. Having two rooms, one for the sun and one for the shade, can also work quite well.
