Though you don’t want to obstruct the airflow or keep your thermostat from working properly, there are ways that you can “camouflage” your thermostat to keep it from disrupting the flow of your home décor. Here are just 3 simple DIY ideas you can try to hide your thermostat.

1. Frame it.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”? Well, this can apply to hiding your thermostat as well. If your thermostat is sticking out like a sore thumb, why not class it up a bit by placing an attractive frame around it? Whether you choose a colorful frame or go for one that matches the color of the thermostat, you can create a whole new look for the wall just by simply placing the frame around the device. Not only is this a fun and clever way to camouflage your thermostat, but it can also turn the device into a work of modern art.

2. Place art around it.

Another fun way to camouflage your thermostat is to place art or other home décor around it. If you carefully consider your placement, you can make it look like the thermostat is just another piece of home décor there to beautify your living space. If you plan hang framed art on the wall, you can even put a frame around the thermostat as we suggested in tip #1, so that it flows with the other framed art. Your friends and family may do a double-take as they walk past the thermostat.

3. Put it on a shelf.

This will give the appearance that the thermostat is “sitting” on the shelf, which helps hide the thermostat from easy view. **It is important to note that you should never cover the thermostat completely as this can hinder its function. Make sure that any décor that you place around the thermostat is at least 2-inches away from the device in all directions.
