Temperature Control Tips & Tricks For HVAC Systems

Just like any other machine or device, HVAC systems wear and tear over time. Therefore, it is up to the owner to schedule regular professional checkups and use good practices when operating the HVAC system. A well maintained air conditioning system lasts for long and operates efficiently. So, to get the best out of a HVAC system, one has to know some of the HVAC tips and tricks.

Maintaining Filters

The air filters have to be cleaned every month so as to enable smooth flow of air in and out of the HVAC system. If the filters cannot be cleaned, the owner should replace them with new ones. There are many types of filters available in the market. However, the recommended ones are electrostatic filters. Cleaning the filters might not be a straightforward thing to a rookie. So, it is advisable to check the user manual for instructions.

Cleaning Condenser Unit

The smooth-running of the condenser unit plays a huge role in ensuring efficient operation of the HVAC system. Therefore, the owner should remove leaves and debris that has settled on the outdoor condenser unit. The condenser fans must also be kept running efficiently. This is done by cleaning the fan blades and coils before the cold seasons.

Clearing Vegetation

All vegetation that is close to outdoor HVAC units should be cleared. There should be a clearance of about 2 feet between the vegetation and the HVAC units. This keeps the fan grill clean at most times.

Lubrication

Since HVAC systems have moving parts, i.e. motors, the owner should lubricate them at least once a year. This is applicable to HVAC systems that have oil ports. For those that do not have oil ports, it is advisable to let a professional do the oiling. When lubricating the HVAC system, one should use non-detergent lightweight SAE 20 oil. Also he or she should not add more than 10 drops per port.

Those are some of the few HVAC tips and tricks that can be used to optimize the operation of HVAC systems. You must know them so as properly maintain your system. Moreover feel free to call us for all of your heating and air conditioning needs if at all you need a professional.
